The East Texas Swim Team (ETEX) has been established to help promote the sport of competitive swimming to kids ages 5-18 years old. Our goal as a team is to strive for excellence in swimming and build self-esteem within each of our athletes.
Practices range from 1 - 2 hours long, depending on the practice group. With the aid of a coach each group is responsible for establishing good technique habits and to build better form in all four swimming strokes. As the swimmer master’s different abilities within his/her area of swimming they will progress to the upper practice groups, thus continually pushing themselves.
ETEX will hold practices year-round with small breaks in August and December. Anyone interested in joining the team may do so at any point during the year.
What is USA Swimming? - USA swimming is the national organization governing the sport of competitive swimming. They hold numerous swim meets throughout the year. We are grouped with the Gulf Swimming region of Texas and are invited to USA meets typically held in the Houston Area. Although we can and do attend meets outside our gulf region.
Cost: The monthly cost to join the team is $65 monthly. The cost of registering for USA swimming is a $65 yearly and is completely optional.
