Erik Cozadd (Aquatics Director) - Has been running both Lufkin & Nacogdoches pools since May 2007. His swimming background began as a freshman with the NHS swim team. During high school he qualified for Texas 5A state in 1997 & 1998 in the 50 Freestyle events. In the fall of 1998 Erik began his collegiate three year swimming career as a fighting Cardinal at Wheeling Jesuit University, West Virginia. Erik earned his Bachelors in Psychology & Spanish in December 2002.
As a certified Red Cross Lifeguard Erik worked at his university swimming facility all four years, spent two college summers as an Ocean City, NJ Beach Patrol lifeguard, and eventually earned his Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification before working for the Boys & Girls Club of Deep East Texas.
Erik now resides in his hometown of Nacogdoches with his wife Angie Cozadd R.N. and daughter Ava.
Calvin Rowland (Lufkin Head Lifeguard/Swim lesson Director) - Has been at Lufkin Swim Center since June 2007. His swimming background started back when he was fourteen when he swim for the Lufkin Sharks. Then as a junior in high school joined the pack team, where he earned the nickname of “Rudy” for his drive to never quit. In the summer of 2003, he started work with Red Cross as Water Safety Aide and got his lifeguarding certificate. That following summer he received his certificate to teach the next generation of swimmers. After graduation, Calvin continued to work with Red Cross as a Water Safety Instructor and City of Lufkin as a lifeguard, until he came to us. Where he has worked to earn the title of head lifeguard and Director of swim lessons for Lufkin Swim Center. Calvin has also gained a USA swim Coach’s certificate and Swimming Official’s certificate. He uses his coaching certificate to coach our age group kids and multi-sport adult swim teams in competitive swimming. He also competes in USA Maters Swim meets. He also holds an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certificate that he uses to teach the next generation of guards. So in the end, Calvin plays a big part in the growth of our novice swimmers all the way up to our master swimmers.
Rebecca Lucas (Water Safety Instructor) - Has been offering the community of Nacogdoches swim lessons for 14 years. Her swimming background began at age 6 as a San Jacinto Gator in Channelview, Texas. Later Rebecca moved to Deer Park, Texas where she swam for Deer Park Junior High, Deer Park city league, and STAR swimming. Rebecca attended Deer Park High School, where she played water polo and swam.
After graduation, Rebecca worked at Six Flags Waterworld , Houston, where she served as a Headguard and trained lifeguards. Rebecca is a former NASCO, Ellis, and American Red Cross Lifeguard. Currently she holds a American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor’s Certification. In 1999, Rebecca served as a U.S. Scholar Athlete swim coach to international students , in Rhode Island. 1998- 2010 Rebecca taught swim lessons at Nacogdoches City Pool.
Rebecca attended Stephen F. Austin State University where she earned a BSIS in Interdisciplinary Studies, and a Masters of Education. Rebecca currently serves as a teacher and coach for NISD.
